Name: Linebeck
Game/Series: LoZ Phantom Hourglass
Teaching Position: 40 (age is not disclosed but do ballpark guesses count?), Mathematics (THE HORROR!) and Cryptology/Game Theory (ex: how to get exclusive stickers and CDs in smash tourneys without getting hurt, target map strategy guides, etc.)
Personality: Lindbeck is a wanderer with a large penchant for fibbing and giving false impressions. His neighbors respect him because they believe in most of his tall tales about his adventures in the sea. But in reality, he's a coward - "incredibly cautious" as he puts it - and prefers to stay in his boat-converted-to-home/boathouse.
Oftentimes he is seen scheming away to find ways to use people/students to do a bulk of his busywork - i.e. treasure hunting (during his younger days), paper grading (present) - and gives small rewards for each finished task. But he hates uppity children and is always often caught trying to kick them - accidentally.
Still, he has deep affections for certain things - his old boathouse and treasure. He will kick you around obligingly if you do steal/vandalize them!
Backstory: Linebeck initially was uninterested in teaching bratty little kids; he was – and still kinda is – greedy and cares for himself, and lives as if his purpose in life were to find treasure. In fact, he had ditched school to run off as sailor a year before he could have enrolled in a decent college. As a captain of his own ship, he went on several adventures and took all the glory/credit when in reality, Linebeck did hardly anything. But after he befriends Toon Link in his quest to save a friend, he changes his mind A LITTLE (Ciele was a pain in the ass for Linebeck to be with). Especially when the said boy had saved Linebeck when he was possessed by Bellum, the captain kinda felt like he had to straighten some of his act out.
So he returned to continue his educational career.
He retired from further seafaring adventures and went to some old teaching university. There, he rediscovered his old talent in decoding messages/optimization – he learned most of it himself when he originally started out on his quest to find all the world’s loot – and began to focus his work on cryptology and mathematics. Even though he sometimes bribed his far younger peers to do his problem sets (he claimed that was tutoring them and that he knew everything about math), Linebeck graduated a year early as a valedictorian. Now in need of a job, he stumbled upon Sumabura, and to his slight happiness, found Toon Link as a student here. Now he finds pleasure in giving knowledge – in math and code-breaking – and taking advantage of free labor (HOORAY STUDENTS).
Quirks Specific to SBG: Linebeck first hates interacting with students, but he does grudgingly like them after a few classes go by. He especially takes pleasure in scaring the crap out of kids who sleep in his classes. He befriended many teachers but not as many students, due to this ruthless grading and annoying attitude.
